Alginate Dressing is a sterilized wound dressing containing alginate fibers derived from seaweed. This dressing effectively absorbs wound exudates and forms a protective gel-like covering. This gel maintains a moist environment crucial for accelerating wound healing. Crucially, the alginate gel will not adhere to the wound during dressing changes, preventing secondary damage.

Mechanism of Action: When in contact with wound exudates, the calcium ions in the alginate fibers exchange with sodium ions in the exudates. During this process, the dressing absorbs a large amount of fluid and transforms into a gelatinous state.
