Product Description

Alginate Dressing is a sterilized wound dressing containing alginate fibers derived from seaweed. This dressing effectively absorbs wound exudates and forms a protective gel-like covering. This gel maintains a moist environment crucial for accelerating wound healing. Crucially, the alginate gel will not adhere to the wound during dressing changes, preventing secondary damage.

🔹
Key Features:
• Highly absorbent for exudate management
• Maintains an optimal moist environment
• Easy application and painless removal

Mechanism of Action: When in contact with wound exudates, the calcium ions in the alginate fibers exchange with sodium ions in the exudates. During this process, the dressing absorbs a large amount of fluid and transforms into a gelatinous state.

📍
Indications:
Capable of absorbing up to 12 times its weight in fluid, it is ideal for moderately to heavily exuding wounds such as:
  • Venous/arterial leg ulcers
  • Diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers
  • Donor sites, abrasions, lacerations, and post-surgical wounds
Notice: Alginate dressing should not be used on dry wounds or wounds with minimal exudate, as it may dehydrate the site and delay healing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main material of Alginate Dressing?
It is made of natural fibers derived from seaweed, specifically designed for high absorption and medical safety.
How does the dressing transform into a gel?
When the dressing meets wound fluid, an ion exchange between calcium in the dressing and sodium in the fluid occurs, turning the fibers into a soft gel.
Is it suitable for all types of wounds?
It is best suited for moderately to heavily exuding wounds. It should not be used on dry wounds or wounds with very little discharge.
Does the dressing stick to the wound?
No, because it turns into a gel upon contact with fluid, it maintains a moist layer that prevents it from adhering, making removal painless.
